PSV Eindhoven head coach Phillip Cocu says the 3-0 defeat to Ajax Amsterdam was an accurate reflection of their performance in their Eredivisie clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Three second-half goals from David Neres, Lasse Schone and Donny van de Beek handed their title rivals a priceless three points and inflicted PSV's first defeat in the league since early September.
Despite the loss, Boeren still lead second-place AZ Alkmaar by five points and De Joden by seven after 15 games played.
"I must admit we suffered a heavy and dismal defeat," Cocu told the club's website. "Our full backs were not involved in the attack today and that’s why we never found our rhythm.
"That's not acceptable at this level. But there's still a long way to go [in the leageu] and we have to work hard every game to get a result.
"We tried to play a compact defence but could not create any chances. We must pull ourselves together and make amends against FC Groningen on Wednesday."
Cocu also touched on the injury to key forward Jürgen Locadia, who was forced off the pitch with a suspected hamstring injury. "We will have his injury assessed tomorrow," he said.
