Allegri: Juve can compete with the best

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is delighted to be in the Champions League quarter-finals and believes they can compete with the best.

The Bianconeri beat Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night to progress 4-3 on aggregate, joining the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City in the last eight.

Juve was trailing 1-0 against Spurs after Son Heung-Min scored, but Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala put the visitors in control just after the hour mark.

Allegri doesn’t think his side is among the favourites to win the competition but remains confident that Juve has the quality to go toe-to-toe with the best.

“First an foremost we’re really happy that we won tonight and that we made it to the last eight,” Allegri said, according to Goal. “I’ve always said since I first came to Juventus that our ambition is to go as far as possible.”

“But you just have to look around you,” he added. “We’re in the last eight and there are some really good teams. People talk about Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are perhaps up there with the favourites, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not going to compete.”
