Barcelona advanced to the UEFA Champions League last-16 as they got the point they needed in a 0-0 draw with Juventus at the Juventus Stadium on Wednesday.

- Iniesta fires wide after Cuadrado error
- Rakitic hits the woodwork
- Dybala shoots just over
- Ter Stegen makes superb save late on
Both teams had openings to score though it was Ivan Rakitic who went closest for Barca as his free-kick hit the woodwork with Gigi Buffon beaten. Paulo Dybala then had a good chance for the hosts but he fired inches over the bar.
After the break, Luis Suarez and second-half substitute Lionel Messi came close to getting the opener. Lucas Digne wasted a good opening not long after before Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved the visitors in injury time with a superb save from Dybala.
Without Messi in the starting line-up, Barca were on the back foot in the early exchanges. In the second minute Douglas Costa surged into the final third and, after linking up with Juan Cuadrado, he fired a left-footed effort on goal which was gathered with relative ease by Ter Stegen.
Yet the visitors created their first opening in the 10th minute when Paulinho latched onto Suarez’s pass on the edge of the box, but struck his shot past the post.
Six minutes later an error nearly cost Juve as Cuadrado underhit his headed pass back to Buffon, and Andres Iniesta stole in to hit a first-time volley wide of the target from a tight angle.
Just after the 20 minute mark, Rakitic’s free-kick was inches away from handing the Catalan giants the lead. The Bianconeri hit back in the 37th minute as Cuadrado collected a pass from Gonzalo Higuain and played a one-two with Dybala, but from the return pass the Colombia star volleyed over the bar.

Just before the break, Alex Sandro fed the ball inside to Dybala, who sent a powerful shot just inches over the bar from around 12 yards out. After half-time, Buffon appeared grateful to his wall when Iniesta was brought down on the edge of the box. Suarez curled in the free-kick which seemed to be headed in before a deflection sent it wide.
With Messi brought into the action in the second half, it wasn’t long before the Argentina superstar was involved. In the 64th minute after another set-piece was awarded in range of the goal from a foul on Suarez, the 30-year-old curled his strike just over the top corner of the net.
Four minutes later Messi fed Digne in the inside left channel and with Buffon to beat, he opted to cross and instead the ball was frantically cleared away by Daniele Rugani.
There were less chances in the final 20 minutes though Costa did find space for a shot which he fired wide. In injury time Ter Stegen produced a fine save from Dybala’s left-footed strike that was diverted beyond the post.
