Report: Neymar tells PSG to sell Cavani

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has reportedly demanded that the club sell Edinson Cavani, after a recent dispute arose over who should take attacking set-pieces.

According to a report in Spanish publication Sport, the Brazil international has made it clear to club boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he wants Cavani to leave the Parisians.

The pair were seen to have a confrontation in a Ligue 1 game against Lyon last Sunday over who should take a penalty, with Cavani eventually taking charge and missing from the spot.

After the encounter, reports suggest that the pair then had to be kept apart in the dressing room as tempers flared in the dressing room about the issue.

A Sport source said, “Neymar has already communicated to Nasser Al-Khelaifi that his coexistence with Cavani is totally impossible and he has asked for the transfer of the Uruguayan striker.”

It is believed Neymar left Barcelona to join PSG for a world record fee as he no longer wanted to live in Lionel Messi’s shadow. However, Cavani has become the focal point of the side’s attack since Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure, and it seems clear he is also reluctant to play a secondary role.

As such, it remains to be seen what action there is to be taken to solve the crisis between two of the team’s best attacking talents, however, a move away for Cavani in the January transfer window is seemingly one of the options on the table at this point in time.
