Maffeo chuffed to sign for Stuttgart

New VfB Stuttgart signing Pablo Maffeo says he is delighted to have joined the Bundesliga outfit and is eager to continue his development at the club.

The 20-year-old right-back will officially complete his move from Premier League champions Manchester City on July 1, after spending the past season out on loan at Girona where he played 34 La Liga games.

“The stadium is really impressive. I was also very impressed by the other things I have seen from VfB and the city,” said Maffeo, according to the official VfB Stuttgart website.

“I firmly believe it was a good decision to play and live here.”

He added: “The move to VfB is the next step in my career. Here I have a good chance to play and develop further. In my opinion, the Bundesliga, along with the leagues in England and Spain, is amongst the three best leagues in the world.

“In addition, the club made a concerted effort to sign me. The discussions with those in charge at the club naturally also played a role in the decision I made.

“When I saw the atmosphere here at home games, I immediately said: I’m signing for VfB.”
