Former Bayern and Borussia Dortmund boss Ottmar Hitzfeld believes Julian Nagelsmann should see out his contract at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
Nagelsmann has recently been linked with both German giants, with Die Roten installing Jupp Heynckes as interim boss after Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking and Dortmund appointing Peter Stoger as a short-term solution after parting ways with Peter Bosz.
However, Hitzfeld has urged the 30-year-old to stay at TSG until the end of his contract, which only expires in June 2021, to show the club he is grateful for the opportunity they gave him.
The 68-year-old told Sky: “If someone like that [Nagelsmann] is with Dortmund at the age of 31, then I ask myself: What is he still doing after that? What goals does he still have at 40?
“Nagelsmann is a good coach, but I think it’s generally important to keep contracts, because you have a lot to thank the club for.”
Nagelsmann helped Hoffenheim stay up in 2015/16 and then led them to a fourth-placed finish last season. They are currently sixth in the Bundesliga.
