Kehrer: Crazy comeback at Dortmund boosts Schalke

FC Schalke 04 centre-back Thilo Kehrer believes the dramatic 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund will give the team a boost for their next clash with 1. FC Köln.

Dortmund hammered Schalke in the first half of their Bundesliga game on Saturday and surged into a 4-0 lead after only 25 minutes. However, Schalke did not give up.

The visitors regrouped at half-time and came out swinging after the break. They pulled two goals back just past the hour mark and scored two more in the last few minutes to salvage a point at Signal Iduna Park.

Kehrer believes Schalke can take heart from their comeback and take the positivity into their next game against Cologne on Saturday.

“We can take the unbelievable character we showed in the second half to give us a huge boost,” said the Germany U21s captain, according to the club’s official website.

“It was just madness. The coach said that we didn’t deserve to concede like that, but he also said that anything is possible in football and that we should believe in ourselves. If Dortmund can score four goals, then we can too!”

“We simply soaked up the moment and enjoyed it. We showed great character in the game. I’m over the moon for the fans and I’m thankful for the brilliant support.”

He added: “The next points are up for grabs against Köln and we absolutely want to take all three.”
