Hamburger SV coach Markus Gisdol has dismissed speculation linking talented teenage forward Jann-Fiete Arp with a move to Chelsea, calling the reports ‘fairytales’.
The 17-year-old is rated as one of the Bundesliga’s hottest striking prospects and recently scored his first league goal against Hertha Berlin on 28 October.
The player has also scored 18 times in 19 appearances for the Germany U17 team indicating he could have a bright future at the highest level of the game.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Arp was offered the chance to join the Blues ahead of the current season, however, he declined to move citing the fact he wanted to gain more experience at first team level.
The publication say that Chelsea’s interest in the striker remains and Premier League rivals, Manchester City and Arsenal, have also reportedly shown an interest in his services.
Die Rothosen have previously rejected overtures for the Bad Segeberg-born starlet with club president, Heribert Bruchhagen, insisting he will continue his development at the Volksparkstadion.
In addition, Gisdol has also made it clear that that player won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. He told Bild, “I will not comment on all these pre-Christmas fairy tales, but Fiete’s contract will not expire tomorrow (but in the summer of 2019).”
