Rummenigge: Sanchez has made his decision

FC Bayern Munchen chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled out a move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez during the January transfer window.

After an indifferent start to the season under former head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern have returned to form with Jupp Heynckes at the helm as they climbed to the top of the Bundesliga table.

Sanchez has been touted as a key target for Bayern due to Frank Ribery’s injury problems and Robert Lewandowski’s recent spats with club management.

But Rummenigge has ended all speculation concerning a January transfer, claiming the Chile international has already decided where he wants to play next.

“I think Sanchez has already decided on a club, so I suppose that the door will be closed in January,” Rummenigge told Sky Sports.

“That’s not an issue, and he is no direct substitute for Robert Lewandowski, as he is not a real centre-forward.

“The possibilities [to bring in an additional forward] will be limited. If you have a good player, you will not give it up just for a huge amount of money.

“We will not be ready to spend horrendous money on a transfer. But maybe there is a good candidate who does not cost a lot of money and makes sense.”
