RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann admits it’s not ideal to draw FC Bayern München in the second round of the DFB Pokal, but insists they can beat the German champions.
Leipzig beat Dorfmerkingen 5-0 in the first round of the cup at the start of the season. However, they are now faced with the mammoth task of eliminating Die Roten from the competition.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s charges will square off with the Bavarians on Wednesday at the Red Bull Arena, before travelling to the Allianz Arena for a Bundesliga clash on Saturday.
“It’s crazy to be playing the best team in only the second round, but we’re looking forward to the game. We’ve made it difficult for Bayern in past games – we know we can beat them if we put in a top performance,” Klostermann told the official DFB website.
When asked about meeting Bayern twice in one week, in the cup and league, Klostermann added: “The difference is that the league match is ‘only’ one of 34, whereas if you lose the cup match, you’re knocked out. We want to win both, so it doesn’t make much sense to differentiate between them.”
