FC Bayern München manager Carlo Ancelotti was happy with the performance of James Rodriguez as he made his first start in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over FC Schalke 04.
The Colombian playmaker is on his way back from a thigh injury, but scored and got an assist in his first Bundesliga start for Bayern.

“He did well, he had a good performance,” Ancelotti said. “He played with the team, for the team, together with the others, with a good combination.
“I think he has to improve his physical condition because he is not 100 per cent, but what he did today was really good.”
James struck not long after Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring from the penalty spot, while Arturo Vidal wrapped it up in the second half to send Bayern top of the Bundesliga standings.
“The performance was good from the beginning until the end,” Ancelotti added. “We played with intensity, with good attacking play, compact when we defended. I think everything was okay.”
