RB Leipzig teenage sensation Dayot Upamecano feels the strides he’s made since leaving France has given him a real chance of breaking into the national team.
The 18-year-old defender left Valenciennes in 2015 to join Red Bull Salzburg’s academy, where he impressed in his short stint before making a €10 million move to their sister club last season.

And since joining Die Bullen, Upamecano has gradually won over the trust of head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl and his performances look to have cemented his place in the first XI.
The Frenchman once again proved his pedigree against Monaco in the UEFA Champions league on Tuesday and even went as far to mention they should have beaten the Ligue 1 champions.
“We could have done much better. We saw a lot of action. We could have scored another goal,” Upamecano said after the game.
“I’ve made great progress here and in Salzburg, I can feel it. It would be a dream to join the France team one day. The World Cup in 2018? I hope so.”
