Lasogga was Hamburg’s saviour last season, his 13 goals helping them avoid relegation and his most important strike coming in the relegation play-off win over Greuther Furth.
That convinced HSV to make his loan move from Hertha Berlin permanent, but he has only managed to find the back of the net twice this season and there has been criticism of his physical condition.
“I’m not too heavy, I’ve just got a bigger build,” he told Germany’s Bild newspaper. “I looked exactly the same last year and nobody was complaining then.”
Lasogga admits, though, he is not happy with his goal return so far.
“I also want to help the team with more goals,” added the 23-year-old.
Hamburg go into the second half of the Bundesliga season on the brink of the drop zone and only two points above last-placed Freiburg.
