Selangor are gelling better as a team, says Evan Dimas after PKNS winner

Evan Dimas feels life in Selangor FA is about to get better after he fired home the winning goal against PKNS FC to give the Red Giants a 2-1 win in the Malaysia Super League.

The Indonesian playmaker scored with a wonderful solo effort at Cheras Stadium on Wednesday, finishing off a great run after picking up possession from midfield and driving at the PKNS defence.

“I feel we are playing better together as a unit, and our chemistry is improving with every game. We had already been playing together for some time, so it’s all about improving from now on,” said Evan.

Selangor had reportedly broke the bank to sign the former Bhayangkara FC maestro, but he failed to reciprocate the hefty price tag earlier in the season.

But Evan is showing signs of finding his true form after scoring in his second consecutive match, having also netted against Kelantan FA last Friday.

The Indonesian looked more confident on the ball, and has been more adventurous in his passing range after playing it safe in the first half of the season.

Selangor’s fortunes are also beginning to improve.

The two consecutive victories over Kelantan and PKNS propels them to eighth in the league, having played a game less than most of their counterparts.

They will face PKNS again on Sunday at Shah Alam Stadium, an encounter head coach Nazliazmi Nasir says his players are relishing.

“I think that game will fire up my players, as they have not been back to the Shah Alam Stadium in a long time. Overall we deserved this victory as we were strong as a team, and were disciplined,” said Nazliazmi.

Spanish striker Rufino Segovia may be missing for the reverse fixture after failing to emerge in the second half due to an injury.

Segovia had earlier given the home side a seventh minute lead by prodding home from close range.

Selangor will be fretting over their top goalscorer’s fitness, who also leads the league goalscoring charts with 12 goals.

Both teams face off again after Sunday’s showdown, in the two-legged FA Cup semifinals on June 23 and June 30.
