Kelantan upset Kedah for priceless win, Melaka edge thriller against KL FA

Kelantan upset Kedah while Melaka United and PKNP FC also came away with victorious in the Malaysia Super League on Wednesday night.

Kelantan FA scored two quickfire goals in the space of four minutes against Kedah FA for a mammoth 2-1 victory to give their Malaysia Super League (MSL) survival hopes a huge lift on Tuesday.

Other results saw Melaka United FA overcome Kuala Lumpur FA 4-3 while PKNP FC beat Terengganu FA 2-1.

In Alor Setar, Kedah were dominant against their struggling visitors, with Baddrol Bakhtiar coming close through a corner.

Syazwan Zainon had the biggest chance of the game on 14 minutes after going clean through on goal, but saw his shot saved by Kelantan keeper Shahrizan Ismail.

Kedah eventually took the lead five minutes later after Paulo Rangel was fouled in the penalty box.

The Brazilian striker picked himself up to score from the spot and give Kedah the lead.

The Red Eagles continued to pepper the Kelantan goal after the break, with Liridon Krasniqi firing wide before Shahrizan pulled off a superb save to deny Rangel’s header.

But out of the blue, Kelantan turned the game on its head with two strikes in four minutes from Nik Akif Syahiran and Danial Ashraf.

Kedah tried to force the equalizer, but Kelantan held strong to notch only their third victory of the season.

At Cheras Stadium, Melaka United recovered from a gallant Kuala Lumpur comeback to notch a big away win in their bid to remain in the top flight.

Yahor Zubovich, Syahrul Azwari and Ifedayo Olusegun had given Melaka a 3-0 lead within the first 35 minutes, but Kuala Lumpur fought back.

Paulo Josue reduced the deficit just before the break, before Brazilian forward Guilherme De Paula scored a brace in the second half to make it 3-3.

But Olusegun fired the winner 14 minutes from time to take Melaka above their opponents in eighth.
