Chan Vathanaka’s PKNS FC faced Pahang FA in the Malaysia Super League this week and it was the Cambodia international striker who found the opening goal of the fixture.
The 13th-minute goal which came at the end of a break led by Kpah Sherman — the Liberian who ran the length of the field with the ball and rolled the ball to Vathanaka who slotted it coolly past the Pahang goalkeeper.
The goal is significant for Vathanaka personally as he scored against his former side and chose not to celebrate and instead joined hands as if to apologise to Pahang for scoring against them!

CV11 had first made his foray into the Malaysia Super League with Pahang FA, however the Cambodian star’s stint at the Elephants was a big failure and he was released midway through the season by the club.
The player left Malaysia disappointed and joined his former club Boeung Ket in the Cambodian League before returning to MSL with PKNS FC in January 2019.
However, it looks like the Cambodian superstar has found his feet in the league this time around and is a key player for PKNS under head coach K Rajagopal.
