The Football Association of Malaysia is set to launch an investigation against Selangor players – Nurridzuan Abu Hassan and captain Amri Yahyah. The duo were accused of making obscene gestures towards Perak players.
The match in question took place on Friday, 12th April at the Shah Alam Stadium which saw Selangor maintain their four-point lead over Perak. The hosts equalised three minutes after Perak’s Mohd. Norhakim had sent them ahead in the 36th minute.
The match ultimately finished 1-1 but images and videos of the Selangor duo emerged later on social media which forced the FA Malaysia’s hands into launching an investigation against them. According to the New Straits Times, FAM secretary general Stuart Ramalingam said that the board will ‘take the necessary action’.
“We are aware of both the incidents and we will take the necessary action after investigations have been completed,” he said. Reportedly, the punishment for the alleged obscene gestures could range from a fine to match bans.
