AFC U-23 Championship 2020: Thailand star Supachai Jaided to face two-game ban for violent conduct against Vietnam

Thailand may have suffered a huge defeat to Vietnam in the AFC U-23 Championship 2020 Qualifiers, but that wasn’t all that the Thais endured on that night.

The 4-0 win for Vietnam meant Thailand players and fans were left red faced and rather embarrassed, and the frustration showed when Supachai Jaided appeared to punch his opponent in a fit of rage.

The 20-year-old was given a straight red card for punching Tran Dinh Trong, and later apologised to fans for his ludicrous actions on the pitch.

But he hasn’t got away with it, as AFC have now banned the striker for two matches while also fining him $1000 as a consequence of his actions.

This means that he will miss the first two games of the AFC U-23 Championship 2020 and could severely dash his side’s chances in the tournament as a result.

The entire AFC investigation and findings on the same have been covered and shown below.

Additionally, Supachai has been informed that a repeat offence of such nature could be dealt with even more sever punishment in the future.

One can only wait now to see what effect this has on the Thai side.
