Myanmar did their job and how as they managed to fire seven goals past a hapless Timor-Leste team at the AFC U-23 Championship 2020 Qualifiers.
It was doomed for Timor from the beginning itself, as Hein Htet Aung popped up to score in the fourth minute of the game, setting a chain of events that included more embarrassment for the visitors.
Before long it was 2-0, and the writing was on the wall when Myat Khaung Khant fired a corner that went straight through the hands of the Timor-Leste goalkeeper and into the back of net for 3-0.
Myanmar hit the post as well during this time, before wrapping it up in the first half with a fourth goal courtesy Win Naing Tun after a stunning through ball was played into him.
As the second period began, it became increasingly clear that there was only one real team interested in winning this one, as Zay Yar Naing struck a fifth for Myanmar and ten minutes later Ye Min Thu nodded in a sixth to sum up the evening for Timor-Leste.
That wasn’t it however, as Win Naing Tun bagged another goal soon after to make it 7-0 and complete the hammering of a helpless Timor-Leste who could only muster a few shots of their own on goal.
The final whistle signaled defeat for the Timoris, but Myanmar laid down the law to their fellow Group I teams Japan and Macau, and look in pole position to finish top of the pile in this group.
