Persija Jakarta remain firmly in the hunt to qualify for the knockout round of the AFC Cup after leaving it late to beat Song Lam Nghe An 1-0 on Wednesday.

In an intriguing encounter at the Gelora Bung Karno that was largely dominated by the hosts, it initially looked as though Persija would be denied a second victory of the campaign.

They thought they had broken the deadlock just before halftime when Riko Simanjuntak finished from close range, but Marko Simic was adjudged to have been offside in the build-up.

Then, the linesman’s flag came to Song Lam Nghe An’s rescue again six minutes after the hour mark after Addison Alves had broken free inside the box and clinically finished past Le Quang Dai.

But, just when it looked as though a draw was on the cards, Addison produced a moment of brilliance in the third minute of injury-time, latching onto Bambang Pamungkas’ flick-on header and sending an astounding volley into the far corner to win it for Persija.
