Becamex Binh Duong’s AFC Cup 2019 prospects were given a real boost as they cruised to a 6-0 win over Shan United at the Go Dau Stadium in Tuesday’s Group G clash.

It took the V.League 1 outfit just five minutes to open the scoring when Victor Mansaray put his sheer strength to good use, holding off a challenge to find space inside the box before cutting the ball back for Nguyen Anh Duc to send a finish beyond Myo Min Latt’s despairing dive.

Anh Duc then turned provider in the 25th minute when he met a floated pass from the left and deftly nodded it back to the edge of the box, where To Van Vu proceeded to lash an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.

Binh Duong were always in control from this point but were in no mood to take their foot off the pedal, and it proved to be the Mansaray show in the second 45.

A minute after the restart, a long ball over the top by Le Tan Tai caught the Shan defence napping and Mansaray latched onto it before skipping inside Ye Min Thu and emphatically firing past Myo Min Latt.

More woeful defending from the visitors allowed the American to double his tally in the 61st minute as a failure to clear a high ball saw it eventually bounce to Mansaray, who clinically found the back of the net with a lovely rifled shot on the swivel.

Three minutes later, Mansaray completely his hat-trick as he again benefitted from some Shan charity; Myo Min Latt coming off his line to claim an Ali Rabo freekick but completely flapping to leave the Binh Duong striker with a simple header into the unguarded net.

And, with a minute remaining, the rout was completed as Mansaray capped off his man-of-the-match display with a second assist to go with his three goals, slipping a deft through-pass to pave the way for Rabo to fire past Myo Min Latt and make it an emphatic 6-0 win.

With the result, Binh Duong are now three points clear of Persija Jakarta – who play Ceres-Negros next week – in second place, while Shan’s faint hopes of reaching the ASEAN Zone semi-finals were officially extinguished as they are yet to pick up a single point in four outings.
