Al Sadd played out a two-two draw against Pakhtakor in their third AFC Champions League group stage fixture. While neither side was able to take away maximum points from this one, there were some great goals for the fans to enjoy; including a stunning brace from former Barcelona star Xavi.
For his first goal of the night, Xavi received the ball on the edge of the year from last year’s AFC Champions League top scorer, Baghdad Bounedjah, before curling it past the goalkeeper and into the net. However, Al Sadd’s lead didn’t last for long, with Pakhtakor equalizing after just three minutes.
The Barcelona legend’s second goal was reminiscent of his old days in Spain, as he scored via a stunning freekick. The Spaniard put his side back in front just after sixteen minutes, only to see the opposition equalize yet again in the forty-first minute.

Meanwhile, despite Xavi’s two stunners, Pakhtakor claimed the goal of the night through Khodjiakbar Alidjanov. The 21-year-old Uzbekistan star hammered the ball into the net from long distance for his side’s first equalizer, three minutes after the Barcelona great had opened the scoring.
Al Sadd’s stalemate against Pakhtakor meant that they took the second qualification spot in Group D of the AFC Champions League, with three games still to play. The Qatari side next face a visit from Pakhtakor on April 22, as they look to seal their place in the knockout stages of the competition.
