The AFC Champions League, the biggest prize on offer in Asian club football, has returned for another season which promises to be even more exciting and closely-contested than the last one!
Japanese giants Kashima Antlers got their hands on the title for the very first time in their history last season after defeating Iran’s Persepolis FC 2-0 in the two-legged grand finale back in November 2018.
Kashima and Prespolis looks stronger as ever, but the likes of Al Duhail and Al Sadd from Qatar and the usual supersets from China, Korea Republic and Japan are all in the hunt to win the biggest prize in Asian football come November.
The tournament also has go the attention of Southeast Asia with Malaysia Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) making their debut in the group stages of the continental competition while Thai League winners Buriram United look to improve on a fine showing from last season.
