Spalletti on Japan radar

Spalletti has been out of work since March 2014 after being sacked by Zenit Saint Petersburg, but has been linked with a coaching position at AC Milan, should current coach Filippo Inzaghi be sacked.

Nikkan Sports reports that the 55-year-old is now wanted by the JFF to coach the Japan national team.

In recent times Japan have targeted Italian coaches for their national team, like Alberto Zaccheroni, who was in charge at last year’s World Cup and both Cesare Prandelli and Walter Mazzarri who are already linked to the coaching post.

Others thought to be on the wanted list are Spaniard José Antonio Camacho, Danish legend Michael Laudrup and Portuguese coach Paulo Bento.
