‘My kids fave player Kleber’ – Nowitzki after passing Chamberlain for 6th all-time scorer

Mabkhout, who scored five times for the United Arab Emirates in the January tournament, scored in Al Jazira's 2-0 victory over Emirates.

Mabkhout not only scored the opener in the domestic match, he also sent in the cross for his side's second goal.

After the match the striker told Khaleej Times: "The match was very crucial for us because we were playing away from home, and claiming the full points was a must to enhance our lead.

"We will entertain Al Dhafra in the 17th round at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium and hopefully we will be able to maintain our winning streak. And as you know, there's nothing easy in the current edition of the Arabian Gulf League.

“The teams have prepared well for the season and unless we keep our eyes wide open on the trophy, our job will be too much complicated as many hurdles remain to be cleared."
