The tournament is scheduled for July 15-18 at the 55,000-capacity Singapore National Stadium; the teams that have been invited are English Premier League sides Arsenal, Everton, Stoke City and a Singapore Select XI.
In a chat with the Arsenal site, Wenger confirmed that the club was happy at the prospect of playing in Singapore.
"We are happy to be participating in this Barclays Asia trophy. We have not been to Singapore yet [while I have been manager] and that`s why we are very happy to go there."
Wenger added that he felt it was good for them to promote the English Premier League in Asia where it is very popular.
"We know that English football is very popular in Asia, and that's a good opportunity to show how much we respect Asia as well.
"It's what you're looking for, to prepare well with the right intensity in the games to have a look at everybody as well.
"We have young promising players who can be a name after the competition. It's a good opportunity as well for Singapore people to see these players," he added.
