Ha Noi got their 2018 V.League 1 campaign off to a winning start on Sunday as they beat Hai Phong 1-0 at the Hang Day Stadium.

Following a goalless first half, the breakthrough arrived in the 69th minute when Ngan Van Dai kept his cool to score on the rebound, after Ganiyu Oseni had smashed his initial effort off the bar.

However, Hai Phong were unlucky not to have salvaged a share of the spoils in the 77th minute when Nguyen Canh Duong fired into an unguarded net after Nguyen Van Cong had spilled a high ball, only for Errol Stevens to have been harshly penalised for an adjudged foul on the Ha Noi keeper.

Meanwhile, Than Quang Ninh were also opening-round victors as Eydison scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute to hand them a 1-0 win over SHB Da Nang.

Finally, Sunday’s other match saw newly-promoted Nam Dinh played out a 0-0 draw with XSKT Can Tho.
