Penang have pulled off a major transfer coup ahead of the 2018 Malaysia Premier League season by securing the services of Danish striker Ken Ilso.
Ilso arrives at the Penang State Stadium with excellent credentials having played in the Dutch Eredivisie and German Bundesliga with Heerenveen and Fortuna Dusseldorf respectively.
However, he is best known in the region for his recent spells with Singapore’s Home United and then in Malaysia with Kedah.
After arriving in Southeast Asia from Guangzhou R&F at the start of 2015, Ilso plundered 36 goals in two seasons for Home before signing for Kedah, where he netted 25 times in all competition last season.
There was initially plenty of speculation as to where the Dane would next ply his trade after he bade farewell to Kedah at the end of 2017, although it has now emerged that he will be once again gracing Malaysian football this year.
Penang announced his signing on Tuesday night and he will be partnering former Gambia international Sanna Nyassi in attack, as the Panthers seek an immediate return to the Super League.
