Malaysia Super League outfit Selangor look to have secured the services of Indonesian duo Evan Dimas and Ilham Armaiyn.
While the Malaysian side have not given any official confirmation, the transfers look a done deal following various posts on social media.
On Sunday, Evan posted a photo on his Instagram account of the duo signing contracts and posing with Selangor jerseys with the caption “Bismillah (in the name of God)”.
One of the photos was also shared on the account of Simon McMenemy, coach of Indonesia Liga 1 outfit Bhayangkara, whom Evan and Ilham played for this season.
Both of them played key roles in Bhayangkara winning the inaugural Liga 1 title last month, with Evan pulling the strings in the heart of midfield while Ilham netted nine goals to become the club’s joint second-top scorer behind only Ilija Spasojevic.
“Very proud of these two,” said McMenemy on Instagram. “Well deserved moves to Malaysia.
“Been an honour to work with them and fantastic to see them progress.”
Selangor are looking to bounce back following a disappointing season which saw them finish 6th in the Super League, 16 points behind eventual champions Johor Darul Ta’zim.
While the introduction of an ASEAN player import slot has paved the way for many of Southeast Asia’s top players to move to Malaysia, the Red Giants have shown real faith in signing two of them at a go.
Selangor are no strangers to Indonesian imports having previously had legendary striker Bambang Pamungkas on their books from 2005 to 2007, while flying winger Andik Vermansyah recently left the club after a four-year stint.
Despite failing to meet expectations this season, Selangor still have AFC Cup football to look forward to in 2018 as Malaysia’s second representative, after Pahang withdrew from the tournament while Kedah, FELDA United and Perak TBG all failed to meet the requirements to compete in continental competition.
