Guoan took the lead through Yu Dabao in the 33rd minute. Urawa were on level terms in the 74th minute thanks to a goal by Tomoaki Makino.
Urawa started well and could have gone ahead after 12 minutes but Wataru Hashimoto headed wide from a corner and should have done better.
Erton Fejzullahu had a decent chance to for the visitors in the 25th minute when through on goal but tamely hit his shot straight at Urawa goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa.
Eight minutes later the Chinese side scored when Song Boxuan’s corner was flicked on at the near post by Xu Yunlong and Yu scored from close-range.
Urawa nearly scored immediately when Kashiwagi’s volley was brilliantly kept out by Yang Zhi.
In the 73rd minute Urawa were back on level terms as defender Makino leaped to head home Toshiyuki Takagi’s corner to make the score 1-1.
With five minutes to go Guoan were down to 10-men after having defender Lang Zheng sent off for an off the ball incident.
Urawa forward Tadanari Lee missed a great chance to get the win late in the game but headed the ball over the bar from Makino’s cross.
The result sees Guoan on top of Group G with 10 points followed by Suwon Samsung FC on seven points. Brisbane Roar are third with four points followed by Urawa on one point.
