QNK Quang Nam have been crowned champions of V.League 1 with a 3-1 win over TP Ho Chi Minh following a thrilling final day of the season.
With Quang Nam entering Saturday second on the table, and one of three teams tied at the top on 45 points, they knew they needed other results to go their way if they were to emerge triumphant.
Still, they had their own job to do at the Tam Ky Stadium and held up their end of the bargain by coasting to victory.
Dinh Thanh Trung’s brace and a strike by Ha Minh Tuan were enough to hand Quang Nam maximum points, before Vo Duy Nam grabbed a consolation for Ho Chi Minh in injury-time.
Remarkably, over at the Cua Ong Stadium, Ha Noi, who had started the day top of the table due to their superior head-to-head record, threw away a two-goal lead to draw 4-4 with Than Quang Ninh, who were inspired by four-goal hero Rodion Dyachenko.

This meant that Ha Noi finished two points off the pace and while FLC Thanh Hoa also moved level on 48 points with Quang Nam following a 1-0 victory over Song Lam Nghe An, they had to settle for a runners-up finish given their inferior record against the eventual champions.
Meanwhile, Ha Duc Chinh scored the only goal of the game in the 73rd minute to help SHB Da Nang beat Hoang Anh Gia Lai 1-0, while XSKT Can Tho were 3-2 victors against Long An in a five-goal thriller at the Tan An Stadium.
Finally, Marcelo Fernandes notched a hat-trick in Sai Gon’s 3-0 triumph over Hai Phong, and Nguyen Anh Duc also hit three as Becamex Binh Duong defeated Sanna Khanh Hoa 3-2.
