Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs will be appointed as a youth academy director by the Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talents Football Club (PVF).
Giggs, former teammate Paul Scholes and Managing Director of Manchester United International, Mike Farnan, will travel to Vietnam on November 19 for the opening ceremony of the academy. Scholes is also expected to take up an undisclosed role at the academy, according to reports from Tin The Thao.
Giggs’ role at the academy will focus on helping to develop Vietnamese football talents by training coaches and young players.
The former United duo will not settle in Vietnam but will travel to evaluate how things are going at the academy three months after their initial visit, according to reports in Vietnam.
Hoang Anh Tuan, head coach of Vietnam’s U19 team, will be head of the training board at the academy.
