Global Cebu reduced the gap between them and Philippine Football League leaders Meralco Manila to seven points on Wednesday following a 3-1 triumph over Davao Aguilas at the Cebu City Sports Complex.
Wesley Santos got Global on their way when he converted a Misagh Bahadoran cross, before Darryl Roberts added a second two minutes after the hour mark.

The contest was then effectively ended in the 71st minute when the two Paolos combined – Bugas finding space down the left and floating a cross to the back post to find the unmarked Salenga, who met it with a fine first-time volley into the bottom corner.
Davao did pull one back with five minutes remaining courtesy of a Harrison Sawyer effort, although it was little more than a mere consolation on a night that belonged to Global.
“Throughout the whole game, I thought we were the better football team,” said Davao coach Gary Phillips. “Global played to their strengths – they kick it long and they chase.
“They’ve got two very good strikers and I think that was the difference… They won them the game. Clearly, we missed our foreign defenders; we just couldn’t match their strength.
“To Global’s credit, they know how to win games. They’ve got a lot of experience, they kick it, they chase it and they put pressure on you.
“We just need to learn to defend better and be more professional.”

The three points not only sees Global close the gap on Meralco but also consolidates second spot for now, with Kaya FC-Makati trailing four points behind.
Meanwhile, for Davao, they remain the only side left in the PFL still looking for their first win in 2017 despite a recent improvement in form brought about by a series of high-profile mid-season signings, with the Younghusband brothers, Phil and James, Jason de Jong, Matthew Hartmann and Simone Rota to name but a few.
