The visitors opened the scoring through Everton Ribeiro in the 16th minute and had Majed Hassan sent off in the 61st minute. The Saudi side scored twice in the second half through Mohanad Aseri and Bruno César in the 77th and 92nd minutes respectively.
Al Ahli Saudi Arabia now have 11 points, four more than second-placed Nasaf, who are two points ahead of Al Ahli from the United Arab Emirates while Iran’s Tractorsazi are bottom of the group and are eliminated.
In the 16th minute Everton Ribeiro gave the Emiratis the lead when he struck a low left-foot shot beyond Al Ahli goalkeeper Abdullah Al Muaiouf.
In the 61st minute, the complexion of the game was altered when Hassan was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
Hassan’s sending off swung the game in favour of the Saudis.
In the 74th minute Osvaldo came close with his effort hitting the crossbar and three minutes later the scores were level. Asiri headed home Amir Kurdy’s cross from the left to make the score 1-1.
Four minutes into stoppage time Al Ahli Saudi Arabia won the game when Osvaldo set up Bruno Cesar, who hit a first-time volley that gave Ashoori no chance.
Al Ahli UAE host Tractorsazi on Matchday Six needing to win while hoping Nasaf are unable to win against Al Ahli Saudi Arabia to have any chance of joining the Jeddah-based club in the next round.
