Gomez's comments come after South China crushed Global FC 3-0 at Mong Kok Stadium on Wednesday.
Substitute Cheng Lai Hin opened the scoring for South China in the 40th minute before Bojan Malisic doubled the lead with an excellent header in the 55th minute.
Daniel McBreen sealed the deal in the 92nd minute as he found the back of the net to make it 3-0.
As a result of the win, South China have gone unbeaten in all five of their games and have subsequently cemented their place atop the Group G standings with 15 points.
"Five games 15 points, I can’t say any more," Gomez told the official AFC site. "We started slowly as we were missing some players but we have a good team and some young players came in.
"This was a good opportunity for them to get some playing time."
Meanwhile, Global coach Dan Padernal lauded South China's central defenders and also admitted that his team are unlikely to progress to the next round.
"Both teams struggled in the first half, we made some bad passing decisions, but the first team to recover was South China and the standout performance was from their central defenders – they were remarkable tonight," he said. "Now it’s very difficult for us to advance so we must win against Pahang, but we will work hard and hopefully we can make it into the next round."
