Mora out as JDT boss

Johor Darul Ta'zim

Benjamin Mora is no longer in charge of Malaysia Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim, who are now in the market for a new manager.

The Mexican has been relegated to his former position as head coach of the second team, while Ismail Ibrahim and Raul Longhi will lead the Southern Tigers until a permanent replacement can be found.

Mora has been absent from team photos since they were dumped out of the AFC Cup by Ceres, a defeat that increased rumours that he was on the way out.

“Benjamin Mora will now return to his original role as head coach of JDT II. He has been fantastic in moulding the young players for the first team,” said the club in a statement.

“Some of the young players we can see today includes Fazly Mazlan, Dominic Tan, Afiq Fazail and Hadi Fayyadh. We will reveal the new JDT head coach very soon. In the meantime, Ismail Ibrahim and Raul Longhi will be taking charge of the team.”

With the Southern Tigers out of the FA Cup as well, Ismail and Longhi must now focus on the Malaysia Cup, where their next opponents are struggling Sarawak.

Before that, they are back in Super League action and looking to maintain or extend their six-point lead against rock-bottom Pulau Pinang on Saturday 1st July.
