AFC Cup East Zone wrap

Here is a breakdown of Tuesday's East Zone results:

Group E: Persipura Jayapura 6-0 Warriors FC

Unbeaten Persipura Jayapura thumped Warriors FC 6-0 in their AFC Cup Group E tie on Tuesday.

The Indonesian club ran riot from start to finish against the already eliminated Singaporean side, and opened the scoring through Bio Paulin in the 19th minute.

Seven minutes later their advantage was doubled through Ian Kabes, before Captain Boaz Solossa scored a brace of goals shortly after the half-time interval.

Kabes completed his own brace just before the hour mark, while Substitute Gerald Pangkali completed the 6-0 rout in the 88th minute.

Persipura were semi-finalists in 2014 and have already qualified for the Round of 16 after Match Day four.


Group E: Maziya Sports & Recreation 1-2 JSW Bengaluru FC
Bengaluru came from a goal down to beat Maziya 2-1 in their Group E clash played at the National Stadium in Male. 

The home side opened the scoring through Pablo Rodríguez in the 62nd minute and the visitors replied via a brace by Sunil Chhetri in the 71st and 78th minutes.

In the group standings Bengaluru are second on 12 points, one behind leaders Persipura Jayapura while Maziya are third on four points follows by Warriors FC with zero.


Group F: Balestier Khalsa FC 1-2 Kitchee

Singapore's Balestier Khalsa crashed 1-2 at home against Hong Kong side Kitchee at Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday. 

The sides went into the half-time break with scores tied at 1-1 after the visitors opened the scoring via Jordi Tarres in the 14th minute, Fadhil bin Noh got the equaliser in the 33rd minute before Carlos Belencoso got the winner for Kitchee in the 62nd minute.

The win sees Kitchee fighting for top spot on the group with 10 points while Balestier are bottom with three points.


Group F: Kingfisher East Bengal 0-1 Johor Darul Ta'zim

Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta'zim beat India’s Kingfisher East Bengal 1-0 thanks to a 7th minute goal by Mohd Zainal at the Salt Lake Stadium.

The result put Johor top of the table on 12 points, two above Kitchee on 10 points.  Kingfisher are third on four points followed by Balestier Khalsa with three points.

The final matches of Group F take place on May 12 with Kitchee playing Kingfisher and Johor will face Balestier.
