AFC Cup West Zone wrap

Here is a breakdown of Tuesday's West Zone results as we get them.

Group A:  Salam Zgharta 0-3 Al Wehdat
Two first-half goals seemed to knock the wind out of Lebanese side Salam Zgharta's sails eventually losing 3-0 to Jordan side Al Wehdat at Salam Zgharta Club Stadium.

The goals were scored by Saleh Rateb in the 24th minute, Amer Deeb in the 39th minute and Elhadji Malick Tall in the 65th minute.

The win puts Wehdat top of the table on 10 points while Zgharta are bottom on three points.

 

Group A: Al Nahda 0-0 Al Wahda
Omani side Al Nahda and Syria’s Al Wahda drew 0-0 at the Buraimi Sports Complex.

The result has Al Wahda second on the table with eight points, two behind group leaders Al Wehdat.  

Al Nahda are third on seven points followed by Salam Zgharta who have three points.

 

Group B: Al Jazeera 2-0 Wad Alness
Jordanian side Al Jazeera went top of Group B after beating Palestine’s Wad Alness 2-0 at Prince Hasan Stadium.

The goals were scored by Ra'ed Al Nawateer in the 26th minute and Mohammad Tannous in the 50th minute.

In the group standings Al Jazeera are top with nine points followed by Al Shorta on six points. Wad Alness are third with five points and Al Hidd are bottom on four points.

 

Group B: Al Hidd 1-1 Al Shorta
Bahrain’s Al Hidd drew 1-1 with Iraqi side Al Shorta at Bahrain National Stadium on Tuesday.

Both goals came fairly late in the game, the home side scored first through Ebrahim Ali Almalood in the 77th minute and the equaliser came in the 83rd minute via Makadji Boukar. 

In the group standings Al Jazeera are top with nine points followed by Al Shorta on six points. Wad Alness are third with five points and Al Hidd are bottom on four points.

In the last games in the group on May 12, Al Shorta face Al Jazeera and Al Hidd are up against Wad Alness.
