With a lot of bad blood between the teams and with Al Ahli having broken Al Ain hearts by winning the Arabian Gulf Super Cup through a last-minute goal earlier in the season, Dalic is eager to see to his side turn the tables on their rivals.
"This will be a big game and big chance for both teams," Dalic told reporters on Tuesday. "We have come here to play strong and go home with a positive result."
Al Ain finished with a better record in the group stage, winning three games and drawing the same number to finish atop Group B with 12 points. Al Ahli on the other hand finished in second place in Group D with eight points after winning, drawing and losing two matches.
With that in mind, Dalic doesn't want his side to lose their first game of the tournament to Al Ahli.
"I will let my team continue playing so that they maintain their winning trend," he said. "We are in a good situation at the moment and we need to cash in on this and fulfil our objective of being the best in Asia.
"Every time we have tough matches against Al Ahli. We should not be making any individual mistakes. We have to be focused especially in the defence. The small details will be important."
Dalic also made it clear that he has "no reason to be scared" of Al Ahli as he believes that he has the "best team".
"I have the best team and I have no reason to be scared of anybody," he said. "We respect everyone, but I have huge respect for my team and what my players are capable of."
