Selangor coach Zainal Abidin Hassan has voiced his frustration after his side were eliminated from the AFC Cup following a 1-0 loss to Tampines Rovers.
Selangor had the chance to advance to the round of 16, but a magnificent goal from Tampines midfielder Yasir Hanapi in the 31st minute of Tuesday’s match proved to be the difference.
Hassan admitted that he was disappointed that his side conceded so early in the match, but was even more frustrated that they could not find the equaliser, which would have been enough to see them through to the last 16.
“We gave away one silly goal,” Hassan told the official AFC website. “We tried to find the equaliser but we could not score.
“We did not give them trouble when the game was even. It was only when we were down then we started to create chances. Once we missed the shots, we were in trouble.”
While Selangor will continue to rue their missed opportunities, Tampines on the other hand will be preparing for their round of 16 clash with India’s Mohun Bagan.
