The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced that AFC Champions League matches involving clubs from Saudi Arabia and Iran will be played in Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
In January, the AFC’s Competitions Committee said that should relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran remain tense until March 15, their AFC Champions League matches would be moved to neutral venues.
With relations between the two nations showing no signs of improvement, the AFC requested that they provide neutral venues where they could play the remainder of their AFC Champions League fixtures.
After receiving the Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s (SAFF) proposal, the AFC decided to move their matches to Qatar and the UAE.
Meanwhile, all of the IR Iran Football Federation’s (IRIFF) home games will be played in Oman.
