Thailand’s Thitipan Puangchan joined Japanese club Oita Trinita earlier this year and has made his first contribution for them in a 2-2 draw against Nagoya in the J-League Cup.
The midfielder started for Oita Trinita, his eighth appearance for the club, and played a huge role in their second goal of the night. Thitipan’s long-range pass took the whole opposition defence out of equation and sent teammate Yusuke Goto through on goal.
The forward didn’t make any mistake in slotting the ball past the opposition goalkeeper to send their side 2-1 ahead on the night. Previously, Nagoya had taken the lead in the 24th minute through Takashi Kanai, but it was cancelled by Kazushi Mitsuhira’s strike a minute before half-time.
Oita Trinita came back all guns blazing in the second half and took the lead through Goto four minutes later. However, their joy was short-lived as visitors equalised through Shuhei Akasaki in the 83rd minute, forcing the home side to share a point in the group stage encounter.
With this draw, Oita Trinita stay at the bottom of the group with four points in as many matches. They still have a chance to qualify for the next round, but for that, they will have to win both their remaining encounters.
