In what can only be considered a monumental and memorable announcement for Vietnamese football, a Vietnamese owner will take ownership of a soon to be UEFA Champions League (UCL) club very soon.
Reports have confirmed that Nguyen Hoai Nam will take his share in Bosnian club FK Sarajevo, which is a 60% share from Vincent Tan, and the club will be a part of Champions League qualifying next season by virtue of their domestic league position.
What’s more, Nguyen Hoai Nam has vowed to bring home-grown Vietnam players to Europe and give them a taste of the big time against superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Cong Phuong K League debut for Incheon United: Vietnam star reportedly breaks streaming servers!
Nguyen Cong Phuong is currently one of the Vietnam players already plying his trade outside the confines of the country, with his loan deal with K League team Incheon United underway.
For the likes of Quang Hai and other talented names however, this might just be an opportunity to mix it up in Europe against the world’s best footballers. Needless to say, Vietnam’s World Cup qualification hopes could also be boosted immensely.
