In some exciting news for Iraq’s football fans, young striker Mohanad Ali’s big move to Europe is back on after the 18-year-old prodigy decide to try out his luck in  outside of Asia.

Mohanad was one of the standout stars at the AFC Asian Cup 2019 earlier this year and had attracted interest of several top European clubs including Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus, FC Midtjylland, KRC Genk, SK Slavia Praha, and Cagliari Calcio.

However, the striker had decided to turn down those offers in favour of remaining with Al Shorta in Iraq and looking for opportunities to play in the Middle East or other Asian domestic leagues.

Al Shorta vice president Wahad Al-Taei had said recently that Mohanad was to turn down offers from Europe for personal and family reason in order to prefer a move to UAE Pro League side Al Ain FC.

But, barely few days after the developments, Mohanad is reconsidering his decision to stay back in Asia and is now interested in making a move to the Premier League. And his agent is reportedly negotiating with English champions City to broker a move coming summer.

“After great effort, Mohanad was finally convinced of the need to move to Europe and leave the idea of playing professionally in the Gulf, and this is what we will work on in the coming days,” his agent told IraqFPG.

“Manchester City made a formal offer for Mohanad for next summer. Al Shorta officially received the offer on March 28 but have yet to respond. The English club wants to negotiate in order to determine the contract and transfer fee,” the player’s agent told Al-Sumaria.
