Vietnam full back Vu Van Thanh who went down to a serious injury before the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 last year is returning to full fitness ahead of the King’s Cup 2019.
Van Thanh was a key player for Park Hang-seo’s side last year and played in the full-back role as they reached the final of the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship in China and the semifinals of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
However, the 22-year-old suffered an injury during his club side HAGL FC’s V.League Ho Chi Minh City FC last year and was ruled out for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 which Vietnam went on to win defeating Malaysia in the final.

But for Van Thanh, the injury turned out to be more serious as it required a surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation which the player underwent in Korea Republic while his teammates put up an impressive show both in the AFF Cup as well as the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
However, the right-back haas good news for Park and Vietnam fans as he has returned to training with HAGL ahead of the Golden Dragons’ upcoming engagements in the King’s Cup, 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games this year.
“In South Korea, my training course was very hectic so when I return to Vietnam, I do not need too much time because I did have a heavy training schedule. Getting back with teammates is a special feeling. I hope that I will back to my best old self soon,” Van Thanh was quoted as saying by The Thao 247.
With Vietnam beginning their preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers with participation in the King’s Cup scheduled for June, Van Thanh’s return from injury could only mean good news for Park as he prepares to taken on hosts Thailand, India and Curacao in the annual tournament.
