Reports: Indian Super League to reduce number of foreign players from next season

Indian Super League might see a huge change with respect to the foreign players who are a part of the league. The change will help the Indian players to feature more often than not.

Currently, the ISL teams are allowed to have seven foreign players in their squad. However, that could be brought down further for the upcoming season.

According to reports in Times of India, the ISL will reduce the number of foreign players in a squad down to six. The rule of fielding only five players on the pitch remains the same but as the overall number of foreign players will only be six, the Indian players will get a lot more opportunities.

“The ISL will continue to allow a maximum of five international players on the field at any given time, but more Indians will get a chance to play since there won’t be too many options left on the bench,” a TOI source told them.
