FIFA Rankings: Vietnam, India & Thailand move up; Philippines & Malaysia drop down

FIFA have released their latest set of rankings and Vietnam maintain their position as the best ASEAN team in the world.

The Golden Dragons went up a place to reach the 98th spot on the men’s rankings. India have gained a spot as well and are now 101st on the list. Among the other ASEAN sides, Thailand have also moved up by a spot and are now ranked 114th, while Singapore moved up five places to get to the 160th spot in the rankings.

Brunei and Timor-Leste have gained a place as well and are now 194th and 195th in the world respectively. Indonesia and Laos have maintained their spot in the rankings – 159th and 184th respectively.

However, it’s not all rosy for the rest of the ASEAN sides as Philippines slid down to the 124th spot, while Myanmar dropped two places to be ranked 140th in the world. Malaysia and Cambodia dropped a spot each and are now 168th and 173rd ranked sides respectively.

Among the AFC nations, IR Iran gained a place to remain the best Asian side in the world at the 21st spot. Japan (26), Korea Republic (37) and Australia (41) have all gained a place and follow the Iran side in the AFC rankings.

Belgium, France and Brazil maintain their spot as the three best sides in the world respectively.
