Thailand U-15s suffered a 9-0 thumping at the hands of Barcelona U-15s during their first friendly game as part of their two-week training and exposure trip to Spain.

The Thailand youngsters are touring the European nation where they will utilise some of the best facilities in the world and also play some of the top youth sides in Spain. The youngster will also visit Barcelona’s Camp Nou and Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu while also getting to watch two La Liga games.

However, their best gain will be the experience of playing some of the up and coming stars of world football. And in their first such encounter, the touring Thais were handed a 9-0 defeat by the boys from the La Masia Academy.

The match was held under lashing rain and a temperature of less than 10 degree celsius and the Thailand side who are yet to acclimatise to the conditions in Spain were demolished by the superior opposition.

However, Thailand U-15 head coach Salvador Valero García said that the experience of playing Barcelona will be a huge benefit for his young stars. “The Barcelona players we faced are some of the best player in the world at this age level who will go onto play for some big sides in the near future,” said the coach.

Thailand will now play Girona U-15s on Thursday followed by games against Atletico Madrid on April 9 and Leganes on April 11.
