The Baghdadi derby, also known as the Iraqi El Clasico, between Al Zawraa and Al Quwa Al Jawiya (the Iraqi Air Force Club) was forced to be abandoned on Friday for a bizarre reason.
The Iraqi Premier League match between the two clubs was scheduled to be held at the Al-Shaab Stadium in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad with both teams vying to catch up with league leaders Al Shorta.

Al Zawraa, who thrashed UAE Pro-League outfit Al Wasl FC 5-0 earlier this week in what was the first AFC Champions League game to be played on Iraq soil, are placed fourth in the league with 36 points from 18 games — 11 points behind the league leaders who have played a match more.
Meanwhile, the Air Force Club, the 2016, 2017 and 2018 AFC Cup champions, are second in the table with 38 points from 18 games. And both the teams were looking to get a win over each other to reduce the gap between the top.

However, there was a premature end to the contest as the authorities were forced to postpone the game after thousands of fans, beyond the capacity of the 34,200-seater Al-Shaab Stadium, turned up for the game and managed to enter the stadium without any tickets!
So, in order to avoid any harm to the supporters, the authorities decided to abandon Friday’s game and decided to hold it on a future date, yet to be decided.
Talk about crazy football fans!
