Liverpool midfielder James Milner is hoping to make his comeback from injury against former club Manchester City next weekend.
The England international missed the Reds' defeat to Crystal Palace prior to the international break and withdrew from international duty after picking up a hamstring injury in a Europa League clash against Rubin Kazan.
The 29-year-old joined Liverpool on a free transfer during the off season after a five-year spell at the Citizens.
Liverpool travel to the Etihad when domestic action resumes next week with an already depleted squad with ten first-team injury concerns.
Milner is hoping to make his return next week, but is wary of rushing his recovery and possibly aggravating the problem.
"It shouldn’t be too long and hopefully I’ll be back for the next game, but we’ll have to wait and see," he told the club's official website.
"You never like to put a timeframe on it because it’s a hamstring and they’re always difficult and a bit unpredictable, but hopefully I’ll be alright."
